The Ouachita River originates at the base of Arkansas's second highest peak, Rich Mountain, in Polk County, in west-central Arkansas and flows 510 miles in a southerly direction to Jonesville, Louisiana where it converges with the Tensas and Little Rivers to form the Black River. Communities on the river include the Arkansas cities of Hot Springs, Arkadelphia and Camden and the Louisiana cities of Sterlington, Monroe, Columbia, Harrisonburg and Jonesville.
